Statistical information and data about the new Passengers building 2 project at Kuwait’s
International Airport :
Total area was divided to become 150 hectares in the landing area, and about 360 hectares in the runways area.
The landing area is big enough to include car parking and the Public Transportation building and the other facilities
such as: the offices, and the headquarters of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
The height of the building is about 39 meters.
The building includes 4 floors above-ground, and one underground floor.
A ceiling canopy that extends to 60 meters to protect the building and aircrafts from sun and weather.
The first stage will accommodate 13 million passengers with grade A service.
Flexibility to expand it to 25 million passengers annually with grade B or C services, and then up to 50 million travelers
annually in future stages.
An expandable runway that can accommodate 30-51 linking runways in its first stage.
Reducing the walking distance to less than 600 meters from the center point until the gates at the end of the airport
building.
An area dedicated to two hotels for the transit passengers.
Statistical data on traveling procedures and baggage handling:
120 travelling procedures’ pod for 13 million passengers annually
180 travelling procedures’ pod for 25 million passengers annually
Machines to deal with bags and luggage of 13 million passengers annually that are capable of operating at a rate of
2,930 bags per hour at the peak times
Baggage package of a length of about 6 kilometers.
High-speed bags sorting machines of about 1.5 km
Baggage checking systems including dynamic storage and sorting
Reaching the Airport and car parking:
The new airport building will have an entrance with a distinctive Architectural branching from a new road that links King
Faisal Highway (51) and seventh ring road, in addition to that there is a plan to create a new Metro that connects the
new terminal building with the heart of Kuwait City.
