Chapter 1 - Projects
From the Ministry of Public Works’ major projects that have been completed in the field of
construction projects, as it is responsible for the implementation of buildings for other government
agencies

The new command headquarters and Special Security Forces camp project :
Completion date: June 2014
This huge project is one of the Ministry of Interior’s series of projects that the Ministry of Public Works has completed in
the context of the infrastructure development and modernization in all of the Ministry of Interior’s facilities and
installations policy. This is one of the largest construction projects in terms of space and the multiplicity of facilities and
buildings comprising the project, which is like an integrated city.
It has been taken into account, in its implementation, the use of the latest international specifications and construction
equipment to become an integrated level building in terms of meeting all the requirements of the Special Security
Forces’ work.
The camp is located in Al-Sulaibiya, with an area of 630,000 m², bordered by the Fifth Ring Road from its North, a
suggested road that separates the camp and the wall of the central prison from its South, l-Firdos road from its East,
and Al-Sulaibiya road from its West.
The project consists of:
(52) buildings, amongst them (8) main buildings containing all the services, facilities and all the requirements, such as
services for the command, training, education, sports facilities, housing and dormitories, cultural center, medical clinic,
a mosque, a multi-purpose hall, an Olympic swimming pool, stores, shooting fields, officers club, Special training halls
equipped with models and methods that mimic reality. The project has also been provided with a huge central cooling
station, a network of internal roads, entrances and exits for the project that facilitate a quick egression of the forces in
case of emergency.
Parking inside the project: 838 parking for passenger cars, 650 for special vehicles, and 2992 parking for waiting
guests.
The project’s maximum capacity is 6500 individual.
The public site has been divided into five main areas, each containing a homogeneous set of elements and is as
follows:
Includes the main entrance building, public administration, residential building, restaurant, officers
club, and the cultural center.

Specialized in military training and education. Includes both the open and closed shooting fields . Area 3
Includes the sports facilities and public buildings, which contains: Sports Centre that has a multi-use
games hall and can accommodate up to 960 spectators, and an Olympic swimming pool. It also
contains a mosque that accommodate up to 500 people – medical clinic – Shopping Center –
Restaurant for up to 2000 people – Central laundry building.
Area 4
It is dedicated to the supporting services and includes: The administration of purchases, stores and
workshops. And the main services for sites such as mechanical services station, cooling towers, and
power station.
