Chapter 1 - Projects
From the major projects that the Ministry of Public Works has accomplished in the exploitation of
tertiary-treated and the Quartet-treated water in various types of agriculture.
Project: study, design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of irrigation lines
and networks in Al-Abdali farms:
The project is part of a series of treated sewage water exploitation in various types of farming projects so that the
agricultural sector can witness an increased plants production that will cover a large part of the local needs, a boom in
the cultivation of public parks, an expansion of the landscaping and greening of the highways, streets, and
roundabouts. As a result, the constant demand for treated water has been increased. That is why the ministry has to
complete the project according to the latest international technology to add to its credit a new project within the
development projects in the country.
The project is located in Al Jahra and aims to exploit the tertiary-treated and the Quartet-treated water in various types
of crops and deliver it to the farms on a regular basis, and that is to cover the current and future needs of the region's
treated water (about 1000 farm).
The project consists of:
A network of pipes of approximately 50 km long, starting from the water distribution station in Al-Sulaibiya to Al-Abdali,
and then distribute it on the farms.
The project also includes a tank with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters that has been created in a modern way called
(Pre stress concrete). The tank has been coated with a waterproofing substance from the inside, in addition to the Flow
meter devices to measure the flow of water through the network.
It also consists of buildings attached to the tank, which is a laboratory for testing the water and ensure its safety,
equipment spare parts store, 450 Volts electricity generator, and a 2470 linear meters long fence that surround the
project.
