Chapter 4
– Sewage Systems and Water Treatment –
A statement about the Pumping stations (PS ) in the state of Kuwait
Eqaila pumping station :
The Eqaila pumping station has been established in the beginning of 2011 which serves the areas south of the Sixth ring road,
except Sabah Al-Salem area, which will be linked with the new Mishrif pumping station
The area of the station and its facilities is 100mx100m, and with a depth of 48 meters. The station has been designed in a way
to match its surrounding area and adding the various cosmetic characteristics to it. It has also been supplied with the latest
materials and equipment to resist the weather and operation conditions.
The oncoming of the sewage flows to the station via two main exporters which are main deep line slope with a diameter of
2250 mm and a length of 2 km serving the coastal areas and a line slope with a diameter of 1000 - 1200 mm serving Al-Rigga
and Hadiya. The sewage flows is pumped from Al-Eqaila pumping station to Al-Rigga purification plant by pumping lines with a
diameter of 1400mm and a length of 5 km.
The capacity of the plant design is 180,000 m3/ day
The plant consists of two stages: The first stage is lifting and the second is expelling.
The waste water enters the plant at a low level in the fifth floor underground, and passes on the mechanical refineries and sand
removal room, then to the lifting pumps’ receiving tanks, where the waste water is pumped to the centrifugal pumps tanks in the
upper part of the plant, which in turn is pumping the waste water to the Al-Rigga purification plant.
