Chapter 1

- Projects - Achievements

In the field of Sanitary Engineering, the Ministry of Public Works has made many important achievements in the development of

that system because of its direct impact on the environment, as the process of sewage disposal in healthy ways is necessary to

provide a healthy environment for the communities. The ministry has completed, over the last years, many projects that are

related to the renewal of the sewage system in all of its facilities in the country, from the water collection, processing and

transfer stations, and raising the efficiency of sewage networks and improve their ability to meet the population growth,

urbanization and increasing population density rates in addition to the utilization of treated water projects, which is one of the

strategic projects in Kuwait where they achieve two important goals; the first is the protection of the marine environment from

sewage’s pollutants by not pumping any untreated water into the sea, and the second goal is to provide other sources of water

for use in productive cultivation and greening projects.

From the major achieved projects in the past ten years:

Deliverance of treated water to the artificial lake in Om Al-Remam area and the northern army camps

It is one of the treated sewage water utilization projects, as it aims to deliver the treated water to the northern region of Kuwait.

First: to the artificial lake in Om Al-Remam that is located in Sheikh / Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Subah’s natural reserve,

which is considered a leap in the protection of the wild environment in Kuwait, because the soil of Om Al-Remam’s valley is

ideal for collecting rainwater and treated water, which made it a natural source for drinking water that attracts the various kinds

of birds.

Second: The military camps located north of the county, in order to increase the amount of water used for irrigation purposes in

Abdali farms.

The project consists of the following:

A parallel line to the Abdali line with a diameter of 1200 mm, from the control center (DMC) in Sulaibiya until the Abdali tanks.

Treated water sub-line from the main line to the northern military camps, Om Al-Remam lake, and Al-Nakheel center in

Amghara.

Valves building to separate tertiary-treated water from quartet-treated water.
