The Most Important Future Road Projects:
The Provincial road- the Southern Section :
It is considered one of the most vital developmental Projects in the State of Kuwait. It is one of the Roads in the future Road
Network which will link between the north , the south , the east, the west of the country. In addition, it will link between the new
cities with Northern and the southern parts of the country with a network of express and provincial roads according to
the recommendations of the third Structural scheme of the State of Kuwait to develop a Network of express and provincial
Roads to accommodate the expected increase in population and the anticipated increase in the movement of traffic in the
future in 2030 that will accompany the urban expansions of the country and the increase in housing .
The project is divided to 2 stages :
The First stage :
The project aims at building up a new and express road following the Standard International Specifications which begins from
Al Nuwaisib border point down to the intersection that will be built on the existing Al Salmi road with a length of about 127 km
The project consists of:
14 intersections and 2 Crossings For camels .
Number of ferries on the express roads’ bridges: 22.
Number of ferries on the on the railways of the Gulf States board for Cooperation: 3.
This stage is divided to 3 parts:
The first part: to build up and provide maintenance for the roads and intersections on the Southern Provincial road from Al
Nuwaisib down to the north of Abd Allah port Road – Al Wafrah :
The total lengths of the roads in the first part : 46 km and includes 7 new intersections.
The second part: to build up and provide maintenance for the roads and intersections on the Southern Provincial road from
the north of Abd Allah port Road– Al Wafrah to the north of Kabd :
The total lengths of the roads in the second part: 52 km and includes 4 new intersections.
The third part: to build up and provide maintenance for the roads and intersections on the Southern Provincial road from the
north of Kabd to Al Salmi :
The total lengths of the roads in the third part: 29 km and includes 3 new intersections.
The Second stage :
Aims at the development of the Seventh Ring Road to connect between Al Fahaheel express road down to Al Salmi Road with
a length of about 88 km, so as to allow for the free the movement of traffic without any traffic lights and the speed limit to be
increased from 80 km/hour to 120 km/hour, in addition to providing all infrastructure services and landscaping and the tree belt
at every direction. The project consists of 6 lanes ( 3 at every direction). It was taken into consideration the possibility of the
future addition of a fourth lane along with providing parking services for trucks and pedestrian bridges
The total number of intersections:16
This stage is divided to 3 parts:
The first part: to build up the roads and intersections on the existing seventh ring road beginning from Al Fahaheel express
road down to Kabdregion:
The total lengths of the roads in the first part : 22 km and includes 7 intersections.
The second part: to build up and provide maintenance for the new road that will link between the existing part of the seventh
ring road (at Kabd area) and the Southern Provincial road.
The total lengths of the roads in the second part: 35 km and includes 5 intersections.
The third part : to build up and provide maintenance for the new road that will link between Al Salmi road and the
Southern Provincial road.
The total lengths of the roads in the third part: 31 km and includes 4 intersections.
