The Most Important Future Road Projects:
Development of Al Ghaws street:
Al Ghaws street is considered one the most vital and local roads which witness a lot of traffic jamming. It consists of two or
three lanes at every direction and is located parallel to and between King Fad Bin Abdul-Aziz road (40) and Al Fahaheel Road
(30). The project aims at developing and renovating the existing road according to the standards of design of express roads in
order t facilitate the movement of traffic between King Fad Bin Abd AlAziz road (40) and Al Fahaheel Road (30) to
accommodate the ongoing increase in the density and size of traffic that is resulting from the increase and density of
population in the new areas surrounding with it, such as Fahd Al Ahmad , Jaber Al - Ali, Abu Fateera , Al Mahboula , Al
Masilah, Sobah Al Salem .
The length of the project is about 30 and begins from the North from the Fifth Ring Road (Bayan Area) and ends at Al Ahmadi
Road in Al Fahaheel in the South. It includes the development and refurbishment of 26 existing intersections through removing
all traffic lights and building up 12 upper bridges and roundabouts to link the residential areas surrounding every intersection
and to provide a free express road with a driving speed that reaches 80 km/ hour. The project also includes an increase in the
width of lane to the standard width ( 3.7 meter ) and an addition of service roads to provide ease of access to car parks safely
as well as an addition of fences to separate between the main road and the service road. To increase safety on the road, 11
new pedestrian bridges will be built up. The locations of these bridges were selected near mosques, bus stations, commercial
centers, schools, mosques and health centers. These bridges are provided with Vision Barriers to protect the surroundings. In
addition, there will be safe places for buses to stop together with the improvement of the existing bus stops along the road.
The project is divided into three stages that will be carried
out simultaneously:
The first stage:
Begins from the Fifth Ring Road and ends in the sixth ring road.
Executive Situation: The tenders for performing this part has been
offered and signing in progress .
The second stage:
Begins from Sobah Al Salem suburb and ends in the seventh ring
road.
Executive Situation: The tenders for performing this part has been
offered signing in progress .
The third stage :
Begins from the seventh ring road and ends in Al Fahaheel Al
Ahmadi road number ( 212.)
Executive Situation: The tenders for performing this part has been
offered .
