The Ministry of Public Works has the responsibility of the study, design, implementation and
maintenance of most of the major infrastructure and important projects for the Government of the
State of Kuwait, which in turn is funded by and with the aim to attract the private sector and create
an environment to encourage investors and local entrepreneurs and international participation in
the implementation of these projects successfully.
First:
Mubarak Al-Kabeer port ‟ Stage one ” part 2 – The port works:
Completion date: February 2014.
The strategic objective of the establishment of the port of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and the facilities associated with it is to
become a hub port for the regional transport system in the region and that will support Kuwait plans to create a diverse
economic center that is characterized by the ability to future expansion.
The ministry has conducted various technical, economic, and environmental studies for this project and began in the
actual implementation of the project in 2006.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh / Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has set the basis for the marine port, and the
project is being implemented in three phases.
The first stage is divided into three parts, the second part of the project has been completed and is a:
Geotechnical Investigation.
Bathymetric Survey.
Topographic Survey.
on shore ordnance survey.
Off shore ordnance survey.
Conducting a study on the environmental impact of all stages of the project for the Environment Public Authority’s
approval for all phases of the project.
Design and implementation of 4 anchorages of a length of 1700 meters to accommodate 1.8 million containers
annually.
Designing offshore drilling works for each of the port’s basin of a depth of 16 meters and a depth of 14.5 meters of the
navigational channel.
Designing 12 anchorages for the next stage.
A reclamation of an area of approximately 2 million m².
