Chapter 1 - Projects
From the most important projects that the Ministry of Public Works is implementing in the field of
construction projects, as It’s concerned with the implementation of buildings for the other
government agencies.
First:
Sheik/Jabir Al-Ahmed Al-Subah Hospital project:
Beneficiary: Ministry of Health.
Commencement date: December 2009.
Completion progress until December 2014: 75.7%.
The project is located in Al-Surra area- Government queries area in Hawali governorate, South of King/Kalid bin
Abdulazziz road’s intersection with street (401). The access to the site will be from 3 main roads. The first one is
branched from King/Kalid bin Abdulazziz road on the Northern side, the second and third are branched from the
Western side of road (401). There will also be three internal links, two from the eastern side and the third one from the
South-eastern side, and a service road will be constructed South of the site.
The hospital site’s planning is based around a clear and easy transportation system by using a four-lane circular road
inside the site to reach the external six gates (5 main entrances and a services entrance) with the entrances of the
building.
Parking has been created in three underground levels in addition to surface-level parking next to the hospital’s building,
with a total capacity of 4500 cars.
The building has been designed of nine medical floors, 8 of them are above ground, and one underground floor. Five
servicing floors overlap with the medical floors, containing the building’s services sections to facilitate all of the services
and maintenance works without interfering with the medical works in the hospital so that the total of floors would
become 13 floors above ground.
The project is one of the largest healthcare centers in Kuwait with a capacity of 1168 beds.
The hospital consists of:
Dental Center building - residential building - the central unit building – clinics buildings - diagnosis and treatment
building - patients Tower building – injuries Center.
Three places are available for helicopter landing at the site to provide quick transfer of patience with critical cases.
The site includes green squares and cosmetic crops to separate the project from the neighboring residential areas.
The project provides medical services to the people of South Surra area and the surrounding areas' population of an
estimated 600,000 people. The hospital’s building includes four buildings in which all types of medical services are
available with the latest equipment and medical devices as well as different types of devices and the largest center for
injuries in the Middle East. It will also includes:
36 operation rooms (large and small).- 4 Heart catheter labs.- 4 MRI labs.- 4 CT labs.
