Chapter 1
- Projects - The most important ongoing projects
Of the most important projects undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works implemented in the field of
sanitary engineering projects aimed at infrastructure development of the State of Kuwait as well as take
advantage of the treated water
Implementation, operation and maintenance of a main line of quadrilateral –treated water from DMC to
Sabah Al-Salem University City and the necessary works (design and implementation system)
The project aims to take advantage of treated water in cooling works for the buildings of Sabah Al-Salem University City as a
unique idea of ground cooling, which is the first of its kind in Kuwait because it is saving much more energy compared with the
other systems of cooling, the project aims to exploit the treated water in irrigation works and agriculture where the university
has more than 2,500 palms and trees.
And based on the beneficiary’s hurry, which is Kuwait University, the Ministry of Public Works signed a contract (design and
implementation system) in February 2015 and began implementation in March 2015.
The project consists of:
Designing, implementation, operation and maintenance of a Ductile line with a diameter of 700 mm and a length of 22 km to
provide Sabah Al-Salem University City’s tanks with quad-treated water from DMC station in Sulaibiya.
Designing, implementation, operation and maintenance of a pumping station in DMC area to pump the quad-treated water by a
rate of 36,000 m3 daily.
The construction of a secondary electricity station.
Supply and installation of a second reserve power generator to work in cases of outages, and to ensure the continuity of the
work of the pumping station without stopping.
Extending Fiber optics cable from the new pumping station in DMC until the ductile line outside the walls of Sabah Al-Salem
University City (linking point), with the establishment of remote control system (telemetry system and scada) and connect it
with the control room in DMC station after making the necessary adjustments to it.
Installation of the new sensors (level transmitters and level sensors) in the new pumping station in DMC, and also delivering
similar sensors to the university in order to install them inside the university’s tanks and link them with the final linking point to
become a part of the remote control system.
