Chapter 1 - Projects
First :
Roads and other services for the Subiya highway project
(Stage 3) :
The project aims to develop the Subiya highway from its intersection
with Al Jahra road until the new Subiya City with Subiya area of 72 km
long and transform it from a single two-way road to a double highway
with interchanges and 3 lanes for each direction. The road is also
linked to Boubyan Bridge and Abdali road. The road also serves the
new Mubarak Al-Kabeer port .
The project includes 5 bridges with upper roundabout and 3 reverse-
wrap bridges.
The project has been divided into three stages which are as follows:
Stage one:
An expansion to the existing road, turning it into two-way road, and has
three lanes of 23.2 km long. The project starts in the commando camp
in Jahra, all the way to mid-Sabah Al-Ahmad Natural Reserve.
The project includes the following facilities: three bridges with an upper
roundabout, two reverse-wrapping bridges, roads and rainwater
drainage works, street lighting and other civil works.
Stage Two:
An expansion to the existing road, turning it into two-way road, and has
three lanes of 22.8 km long. The project starts from mid-Sabah Al-
Ahmad Natural reserve and extends to a distance of 22.8 km towards
Al Subiya
The project includes the following facilities: Construction of 3 bridges
necessary for rain drainage, civil works, and other services.
Stage Three:
An expansion to the existing road, turning it into two-way road, and has
three lanes of 17.474 km long. The project begins from the first Al
Subiya City intersection and ends connected by Boubyan Bridge. The
project also includes the expansion to two two-way roads with two
lanes, there is also a side road of 9.126 km long, which starts from the
first bridge in Al Subiya City and ends with another bridge connected to
the Abdali Road.
The project includes the following facilities: three wrap-bridges in
addition to a number of concrete connectors and other civil works.
From the most important projects that were accomplished by the Ministry of Public Works in the field of
highways infrastructure development, which aims to raise the performance of the road network in accordance
with the latest global standards and international standards specifications, streamline the traffic, and raise the
safety level of the development of the road network:
