- Projects - Achievements
The Ministry of Public Works has a prominent role in building and construction of the edifice of the structural and
cultural excellence of the state, they are concerned with the implementation of the various state institutions’ projects,
whereupon coordination with these institutions to prepare for every project requirements, and then select the design
bases, which gives the distinctive character of each architectural, construction and civilizational developments. From
the projects accomplished by the Ministry of Public Works:
Headquarters of the General Authority for Minors Affairs Project:
Location: Al-Murgab area – Abdulla Al-Mubarak Street – Al-Asima governorate, It is adjacent to the building of the General
Authority for Social Insurance
Beneficiary: General Authority for Minor Affairs
Total land area: 10,550 m2
Construction area: 82,480 m2
The project aims to create a new headquarters for the General Authority for Minors Affairs that fits the current and future
situation, and provides the appropriate work environment and to accommodate the number of employees and the services
provided to the reviewers. The latest architectural designs have been used that meet all the needs of workers in the Authority
and contribute to facilitate the reviewers’ movement
The project consists of:
Two towers of different heights close proximity to a low building, in addition to the parking building at 5000 Mitr² space that
consists of a ground floor, 5 floors, 2 basements which accommodates up to 856 cars. It also contains a shelter in the
basement.
The higher tower is 130 meters long for 25 floors that are used as offices for the administrative staff
The other tower (2) is 77 meters long for 16 floors that are as offices for the administrative staff.
The lower tower (3) is 27 meters long for 2 basements and 3 floors, which is used to receive the reviewers.
The project was supplied with 2 internal hanging bridges to cross through the two scales between the buildings as well as
elevators and mail transportation system to serve the staff and reviewers, in addition to the external and inner landscaping,
giving a natural beauty to complete the distinctive design of the building.
The building’s areas were classified as follows:
Functional spaces: and are open and closed office spaces.
Private Spaces: customer service hall, listening rooms, archives, cash exchange hall, training rooms and meetings, and the rest
room of the senior and executive managements, as well as a central building services.
Support spaces: the lobby of the elevators and toilets.
Public services spaces: a multi-purpose hall, the central library, day-care room and cafeteria as well as public utilities.
Car parking (4): The main building’s basement accommodates up to 82 cars, while the neighboring parking lot accommodates
up to 856 cars.
Public Shelter: It has been included in basement 2 of the main building and parking. It accommodates 100 people.
The building is also equipped with the Smart Building Systems, to raise the services provided to the reviewers and reduce
energy consumption and the reduction of various communication costs in addition to providing the building with the latest
advanced technology types, including:
• Internet and satellite.
• Communications database.
• Fire-fighting.
• Building Services Management.
• Energy & lighting.
• Automatic operating system.
• Elevators and escalators.
• Security and guard and monitoring the entrances and exits.
• HVAC.
• Audiovisual.
