Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties Project
Beneficiary: Ministry of Health.
Commencement Date: June 2014.
Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties was founded in 1983 to improve the performance and training of Kuwaiti doctors post-
graduation, and because of the increasing need for medical services due to the increase in population in the State of Kuwait. In
addition, to increase the number of doctors, there is urgent national necessity for the development of medical staff, because of
that the need to build this project aroused, which includes the Secretariat under the dome of the Institute and the various
activities of the training programs and conferences and lectures for all medical specialties.
The project is located in AlSabah health area - in the capital. It is bordered to the north by the Gulf, and about 11 km east of
Kuwait City.
The design of the building depends on the philosophy of the modern style in the shape and content through several factors
including: appropriate design of the surrounding environment and coordination between all the elements of the building. In
addition, to the preservation of the old Kuwaiti architectural design through the existence of an internal void in the building.
The project is oval-shaped, with an internal void in its center that has a large water fountain which took the shape that
resembles the logo of Medicine and Pharmacy. In the top of the last surface there is a glass dome area of approximately 1000
Mitr² to extend the building’s natural light to help providing a convenient operation and a stimulating work environment.
The building consists of two underground basements intended for parking, the ground floor includes the surface parking and
cosmetic tracts and 8 floors overlooking to the inner space.
Site Area: 15,000 m².
The total area of the building: 73,000 m².
Building height: 52 meters.
Parking capacity: 547.
