Construction of roads and intersections on the Middle Part of Al Jahra road project
The project is one of the important projects undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works which completes the connection of
roads, bridges, and intersections in a continuous circle to facilitate the traffic movement from Kuwait City through Jahra area. It
is one of the fundamental solutions for the traffic congestion in that area, as it significantly contributes to the separation of cross
traffic and local traffic, and raises the capacity of the Jahra road, leading to the reduction in traffic density and accidents rate,
and it also contributes to raising the level of services for the road users.
The project serves the areas of Ghirnata, Andalus, Nahda, Sulaibikhat, Doha and Al- Kairouan.
The project starts from the United States roundabout until the fast Doha link, with a length of 7.8 km for the main road. It
achieves fluidity of traffic movement that allows the road users to move directly from the United States roundabout until the
Doha link without any stops due to the absence of intersections and traffic lights, and that is through the construction of 3
bridges on the middle part of the Jahra road, in addition to infrastructure works such as sanitary, telephones, and lighting
networks. The project also contains a traffic control system through CCTV and PTZ cameras, in addition to guidance signs,
lining and ground marks.
The ministry has made a variety of works regarding roads and asphalt by creating alternative roads and detours, with the
necessary maintenance work, and that is in order to facilitate the traffic movement for the duration of the project.
The main road and the flyovers and the northern service road and a part of the southern service road were opened to
the traffic movement in June 2016 .

The project contains 3 intersection as follows:
Intersection IC9 (570 meters): Located in Sulaibiya road’s intersection with the Jahra highway. The main road of the bridge
has 6 lanes, 3 lanes per direction – and the service road has 4 lanes, 2 lanes per direction.
Intersection IC8 (575 meters): Located in Khalaf Alah Ahmar road’s intersection with the Jahra highway. The main road of the
bridge has 8 lanes, 4 lanes per direction – and the service road has 4 lanes , 2 lanes per direction
Intersection IC7 (350 meters): Located in Al Doha road’s intersection with the Jahra highway. The main road of the bridge has
8 lanes, 4 lanes per direction – and the service roadhas 4 lanes, 2 lanes per direction.
