The Mega Projects Sector is concerned with implementing the projects assigned to it. One of the most important projects is:
Development project of Bubiyan Island and Mubarak Al Kabeer Port (formerly Bubiyan Port) which aims at:
- Developing Bubiyan Island in order to become a competitive and effective waterfront that reinforces the status of Kuwait as a center for regional economic activity, and a major hub for regional transport as a multimedia transport network.
- Establishing a deep-water port that attracts and services the container shipping industry; in addition to being a hub for the regional transport system in the area, which will support the Kuwaiti plans to establish a diverse, initiating, and expanding economic center.
- Establishing a residential community within the Island.
- Increasing resorts and recreation and leisure areas in Kuwait.
- Protecting and preserving the Kuwaiti environmental resources.
- The development of the new Khiran city was also completed.
