A brief About the Ministry

of Public Works sectors

- The Coordination and Follow Up Sector:

Undertaking the coordination and follow-up tasks with relation

to the letters, decisions, and referrals that are outgoing from and ingoing to the Ministry, in addition to

preparing periodical reports on the levels of accomplishment, the obstacles, and the defects in

implementation.

- The Sanitary Engineering Sector:

undertakes preparing designs, supervising the implementation of

sanitary drainage networks, and pumping and lifting stations. In addition, it undertakes the operation and

maintenance of the wastewater treatment plants, irrigation stations, and their structures. It also coordinates

with the Kuwait Municipality and the competent entities to take over the sites and ensures that they are free of

debris and other obstacles before starting the implementation. Moreover, it supervises the periodic and

emergency maintenance of the facilities and buildings of the treated wastewater network, ensuring their

suitability for work.

- The Maintenance Engineering Affairs Sector

: undertakes inspecting the non-highway networks, rainwater

and sanitary drainage networks to propose the necessary maintenance work. It also oversees the

implementation of related maintenance contracts, and follows-up on the received complaints. The sector

undertakes following-up on the workflow in various maintenance contracts. It issues the licenses related to

connecting buildings to the sanitary drainage network, and ensures the implementation of security and safety

rules on sites with regards to development in coordination with the competent entities. In addition, it operates

and maintains all specialized equipment and machinery of the Maintenance Engineering Sector such as

suction equipment, mobile power generating equipment, mobile pumps, and compressors, etc.

- The Road Engineering Affairs Sector:

undertakes preparing designs and supervising the implementation

of roads, services, and bridges and the maintenance of highways and bridges. It also prepares the periodic and

final evaluation of the performance level of contractors of implemented work, and notifies the Planning and

Follow-up Office with the evaluation results. In addition, it Follows-up project workflows and compares them

to the approved schedules, and prepares the related periodic reports. The sector is responsible for coordinating

with the competent entities in solving project-designing issues during the implementation phases.

Furthermore, it prepares the different engineering designs and studies for rainwater drainage networks,

sewerage, and rainwater channel dams. It also evaluates the existing bridges and suggests the necessary

repairs or enhancements in coordination with the competent entities.

- The Construction-Project Engineering Sector:

undertakes studying and planning special projects, and

following-up the designing phases with local and international engineering offices entrusted to project

designing and supervision. It also undertakes the accomplishment of public buildings including schools,

mosques, clinics, suburb centers, etc. In addition, it lists the implemented work, and undertakes the inventory

and assessment of tools, equipment, and material in the case of withdrawal of work from a contractor or work

suspension due to the contractor negligence. Moreover, it follows-up the work implementation of the

agreements with the consulting engineering offices, and ensures that the consultants fulfill all their

obligations according to the agreement terms and are abided by the followed standards in designing during

the designing phase. Furthermore, the Sector reviews and Audits the designs, plans, specifications, and

amount tables for electricity, air-conditioning, sanitation, fire alarm system, elevators, communication system,

and other works prepared by the consulting engineering offices for project affiliated to the Design

departments.
