Road Projects

The current development plan (2015 / 2016-2019 / 2020) has started from ambitious vision of the state of Kuwait , its purpose is to make Kuwait becomes a financial and commercial center that attracts investment, restoring its previous leading financial, commercial and regional role. The development plan aims to improve public services and develop the statistics and national information systems, provide an investment-attractive environment to support the development, and improve the citizens living standards and deepening their belonging to their homeland of Kuwait , guided by our wise political leadership and face the new changes imposed by the international and regional circumstances.​

Vision:

The aim is to making Kuwait a financial and commercial center that attracts investments. A center where competition is promoted, production efficiency is enhanced and private sector is to lead economic activity within a supportive institutional state that deepens values and maintains social identity. Such a state that realizes human and balanced developments provides convenient infrastructure, advanced legislation, and an encouraging business environment. Moreover, different fields of development, general goals and policies, and planned quantitative targets have been determined in cooperation with General Secretariat for the Supreme Council for Planning & Development.

Main Courses and Orientations of the Development Plan

  • First Course: Addressing Current Challenges and Imbalances.
  • First: Addressing Economic Development Challenges.
  • This includes developing the infrastructure that supports the development; in accordance with residential growth requirements, needs of development, and State’s vision. In this regard, the country aims to adopt the approach of separating operators from organizers. It also intends to involve private sector in electricity generation and desalination. Such involvement includes privatization of some of the current production plants and the new department of ports, e.g. the new airport. This is to raise operation effectiveness and resume establishment of housing companies. The government will also continue its efforts in developing the infrastructure of transportation. Such development includes constructing main roads of more than 1,440 km, running Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Hospital and constructing new housing areas.

Strategic Projects of the Development Plan

  • In Health sector: Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Hospital, South Al Surra.
  • In Transportation sector: Expansion and development of International Airport (Terminal 2) and Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Bridge.
